The Ferrari Museum, then orbital dynamics with AstroViktor

Two days at the end of April: Maranello and a pit-stop challenge, then a lecture on how spacecraft trajectories are designed.

On 27 April we went to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello. The visit covered design philosophy, aerodynamic development and the history of Ferrari's racing cars, and plenty of it carries over to the aircraft we work on. It ended with a pit-stop challenge, which was harder than we expected and came down to coordination and speed.

Two days later, on 29 April, Vittorio Baraldi, the aerospace engineer and science communicator known online as AstroViktor, gave us a lecture on modern orbital dynamics and trajectory optimisation. He covered numerical methods, optimisation algorithms and the use of gravity fields in mission design, and kept a very technical subject easy to follow.
